I really love this Gears of War lancer assault rifle. It's a ridiculous gun, just look at it! I have no idea how something like this would function mechanically, but it sure looks cool.
I did not model this gun. Whoever did, deserves proper credit, it's a cool model!
I did remodel a bunch of areas to suit my small personal project. I then re-UVd everything from scratch, mainly to practice UVing, but also to change the layout to better fit my needs.
This entire project was intended to explore the node graph in Mari. My goal was to not touch the layers at all. I am happy to say that I will likely never touch layers again. The node graph is a complete game changer for me!
As always, I feel like I can continue working on this thing. There are a bunch small things that bother me, but I am ready to move on to another project.

Snapshot of the node graph.
While I tried to bring some structure to the layout I need to work on my organization approach, it's still a little haphazard. I treated the lookdev as if I was going to get notes on this asset, so most of this graph is setup to be non-destructive. I spent some time thinking about ways to create easily editable layers of data that are driven by simple masks. After the setup was done, I could just have fun and "design" the look by simply shuffling masks around, adding and subtracting.
